The philosophy behind personal coaching through Reset & Renew:
I believe in your autonomy. You are the expert on you. You know what will and won’t work for you. We can work together to create the plan that is best for you. But you will make the decisions. And it’s your path. My goal will be to work myself out of a job when you become confident in your own ability to move forward on your own.
I’ll gladly walk with you as an ally. My role will be to listen carefully, to help you connect with your deepest motivation for change, and to ask questions that help you clarify goals and choose strategies that are most likely to work for you.
A health coach provides accountability. Our culture vacillates between two extremes of accountability—the “Tough love drill sergeant” kind or the best friend “Let you off the hook” kind. Neither work. Instead, Reset and Renewal uses an entirely different kind of accountability that will help you overcome obstacles, update your plan, and move forward.
Why you might prefer personal coaching to self-coaching:
- Personal coaching can help you get started until you feel that you know the ropes and feel confident in your ability to continue your health journey with self-coaching
- Personal coaching can help when you feel you’ve gotten “stuck” in the process of self-coaching and need a boost to get moving again
- A personal coach will often ask questions that you wouldn’t have thought to refect on yourself
- Knowing that you’ll be talking with someone else about your goals can really help you maintain focus
- Knowing that you are not alone, that someone is really with you to cheer you on, can be encouraging
- Knowing that you’ll be talking with someone else about your goals can provide an extra layer of accountability
